1923: HANK WILLIAMS was born in Mount Olive, Alabama. He scored 35 Top 10 country hits, eleven of them reaching number one.
1955: GEORGE JONES’ first successful chart hit, Why, Baby, Why? Was released and went to #4 on the country chart.
1965: BUCK OWENS was at number one on the country singles chart with I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail.
1993: ALAN JACKSON’s album, A Lot About Livin’ (And a Little ‘Bout Love) was at number one, marking his first chart-topping album on the country album chart. Hits from the album included Chattahoochee and She’s Got The Rhythm (And I Got The Blues).
2012: RASCAL FLATTS received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
2016: FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE’s third studio album, Dig Your Roots was released. It would be certified platinum the following August for sales exceeding 1 million copies.
2020: LUKE COMBS’ album, What You See Is What You Get was at number one on the Country Album chart.

LORETTA’S FUND-RAISER BRINGS IN THE BUCKS:
The benefit concert organized by LORETTA LYNN earlier this week in Nashville has raised $933,000 for flood relief in the Waverly, Tennessee area. GARTH BROOKS, TRISHA YEARWOOD, REBA MCENTIRE, KEITH URBAN, LUKE BRYAN, LUKE COMBS and LITTLE BIG TOWN all performed at the event to benefit the cause.
CMT NAMES ARTISTS OF THE YEAR:
The CMT Artists of the Year special to air October 13 on the network will spotlight LUKE COMBS, KELSEA BALLERINI, GABBY BARRETT, KANE BROWN and CHRIS STAPLETON this year. The artists will perform and be honored through musical tribute and interviews with more acts to be revealed in the coming weeks. Last year, the network broke from its traditional format to honor those on the front lines during the height of the pandemic.
BRETT ELDREDGE RELEASING SECOND CHRISTMAS ALBUM:
On October 22, BRETT ELDREDGE will release his second Christmas album, Mr. Christmas. Like his first holiday collection, Glow, the album will have a vintage vibe reminiscent of Frank Sinatra. Brett will also be playing a hand full of holiday shows in select cities later this year.
DARIUS HELPS THE DOLPHINS:
On Sunday, DARIUS RUCKER will sing the National Anthem prior to the Miami Dolphins’ home game against the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Darius makes no secret the Dolphins are his favorite team, and when asked what position he wished he could play for the team, his answer without pause is the quarterback.

The fourth studio album by SCOTTY MCCREERY, Same Truck and third full-length effort from CARLY PEARCE, 29: Written In Stone, are both available today. Scotty is a former American Idol winner and Carly is up for two Country Music Association Awards this year and has scored hits like Every Little Thing and I Hope Your Happy Now, a duet with LEE BRICE.
