TODAY IN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY:
1970: TAMMY WYNETTE scored her 8th number one hit with Run, Woman, Run.
1984: WILLIE NELSON’s album, City of New Orleans was at number one on the country albums chart. It remained in that position for 12 weeks.
1991: GARTH BROOKS’ album, No Fences became the first country album to be certified five times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album has now sold more than 17 million copies to date.
1994: TIM MCGRAW released the title track of his sophomore album, Not A Moment Too Soon and it became his second number one hit.
2010: Both DON WILLIAMS and JIMMY DEAN were inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

LORETTA LYNN MEMORIAL TO AIR ON CMT:
A public memorial service for LORETTA LYNN is set for October 30 at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House. The event will air live on CMT, commercial free, with additional encore airings next week. GEORGE STRAIT, CRYSTAL GAYLE, KEITH URBAN, LITTLE BIG TOWN and others will perform while MARTINA MCBRIDE, FAITH HILL and BARBARA MANDRELL will be among those appearing to honor Lynn’s life and career.
STRAIT TO THE STADIUMS IN 2023:
Despite being officially retired from touring GEORGE STRAIT still plays a hand full of shows each year and 2023 will be no exception as he plans six stadium shows with special guests CHRIS STAPLETON and LITTLE BIG TOWN. The concerts will take place in Denver, Seattle, Nashville, Phoenix, Milwaukee and Tampa.
WYNONNA EXTENDS JUDDS SHOWS:
WYNONNA has extended The Judds’ Final Tour into 2023. Special guests MARTINA MCBRIDE, ASHLEY MCBRYDE, KELSEA BALLERINI and LITTLE BIG TOWN will remain on select dates with more support acts to be announced. The tour was supposed to be a final reunion of The Judds, but after Naomi’s death in April, her daughter, Wynonna turned the concerts into tributes to her late mom and has garnered great feedback from fans so far.
KENNY CHESNEY, DR.?
East Tennessee State University, the alma mater of KENNY CHESNEY, recognized the singer with an honorary doctorate degree over the weekend. Chesney graduated from ETSU in 1990 with a degree in Advertising, but credits the University and members of its music department for helping inspire him to pursue a career in music.
SHANIA COMING TO NASHVILLE NEXT SUMMER:
SHANIA TWAIN has revealed plans to perform in Nashville next summer. The concert will include special guests KELSEA BALLERINI and BRELAND and will take place at Geodis Park on June 7.
RHETT IN HOLIDAY SPIRIT:
While it’s only a four-song EP, THOMAS RHETT is getting in the holiday spirit with the release of Merry Christmas, Y’all. Rhett has previously stated that he would like to do a full-length Christmas album, but so far, the EP is as close as he’s come.

The Nashville area home of MIRANDA LAMBERT is on the market. For $3.98 million, you could own the five bedroom, five-and-a-half bath residence has more than 6,200 square foot.
