1969: MERLE HAGGARD’s hit, Okie From Muskogee was released. He wrote the song after his release from San Quentin about Vietnam war protests.
2001: Farm Aid took place at the Verizon Wireless Center in Noblesville, Indiana. Performers included WILLIE NELSON, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and MARTINA MCBRIDE.

008: ALAN JACKSON released what would be his 25th and to date, final number one hit, Country Boy.
2009: MIRANDA LAMBERT’s third studio album, Revolution was released. It not only went to number one on the Country Albums chart, but also won Album of the Year from both the ACM and CMA the following year.
2018: CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s sixth studio album, Cry Pretty debuted at number one on the Country Albums chart.
2019: Producer and hit songwriter BUSBEE died at age 43 from brain cancer. He worked with KEITH URBAN, CARLY PEARCE, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE and LADY A among other country acts.
2020: MAC DAVIS died at age 78. Initially a songwriter for Elvis Presley, he had a solo career in the 1970s with hits like Baby, Don’t Get Hooked On Me, Texas In My Rear-View Mirror and My Bestest Friend.

ZAC BROWN DIAGNOSED WITH COVID:
ZAC BROWN BAND front man ZAC BROWN has been diagnosed with Covid and the band have canceled four shows set for this weekend. No word on the extent of Zac’s symptoms or if those shows could be made up at some point.
AJ HAS RARE NERVE CONDITION:
Though he’s been dealing with it for a decade, ALAN JACKSON has now revealed he suffers from a nerve condition called Charcon-Marie-Tooth Disease. The degenerative disorder causes numbness in the feet and arms along with balance issues and eventually effects the ability to walk. While Alan is not at that point yet, he wanted to share his condition in case fans notice him stumbling on stage.
OPRY 5,000TH SHOW:
The Grand Ole Opry will celebrate its 5,000th Saturday night broadcast on October 30 and GARTH BROOKS, TRISHA YEARWOOD, DARIUS RUCKER, DUSTIN LYNCH and BILL ANDERSON will all be among performers for the show, which will air on WSM Radio, the Grand Ole Opry website, Opry.com and the Circle television network and ap.

Fans of TRISHA YEARWOOD’s recipes can now purchase her newest cookbook, Easy Comfort For Friends And Family. She wrote the book last year during quarantine as she thumbed recipes with her morning coffee each day to determine what to try each evening.
HOW LIFE HAS CHANGED FOR WALKER HAYES:
Over a decade ago, when WALKER HAYES came to Nashville, he worked at a Costco to pay the bills. But, this week, Walker can do that with his music as his latest hit, Fancy Like spends its eleventh week at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. It’s a good thing for Walker that music is working out, as he and his wife have six children at home and that’s a lot of mouths to feed.
