TODAY IN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY:
1950: HANK SNOW hit number one with I’m Moving On, the first of his seven chart toppers.
1994: TIM MCGRAW’s album, Not A Moment Too Soon was the top country album. It went on to be the top country seller of the year.
1994: BROOKS & DUNN released their third studio album, Waitin’ On Sundown, which became their first number one album.
2011: LEANN RIMES released her second covers album, Lady And Gentlemen, with her take on country classics by all male artists such as VINCE GILL, JOHN CONLEE and MERLE HAGGARD.
IN THE NEWS:
JASON ALDEAN’S NEW PROJECTS:
On November 12, JASON ALDEAN will release the first of two new albums, Macon. The set will contain ten new tracks, among them his duet with CARRIE UNDERWOOD, If I Didn’t Love You along with five live cuts from his catalog of hits. Georgia, the second half of the project, will be out April 22 with another ten new tracks and five live cuts of hits. In addition, a three-album vinyl set of all 30 tracks is being planned for some time in 2022.
ASHLEY MCBRYDE INJURED:
While in Montana last week, ASHLEY MCBRYDE was injured when she was thrown from a horse she was riding. The One Night Standards singer got a concussion and currently is unable to walk without assistance, but as soon as she is able, she hopes to get back on the road.
BRETT YOUNG’S CHRISTMAS ALBUM:
BRETT YOUNG has enlisted some of his musical friends like MADDIE & TAE, DARIUS RUCKER and Christian singers Phil Wickham and Chris Tomlin to join him on Brett Young And Friends Sing The Christmas Classics. The 8-song album will be out October 22 and will strictly be filled with classic Christmas tunes. In addition, CMT is planning a Crossroads special later this year to showcase the pairings on Brett’s Christmas album.
MICKEY GUYTON NAMED BREAKTHROUH ARTIST:
The CMT Artists of the Year will honor MICKEY GUYTON as Breakthrough Artist of the Year at this year’s event, October 13 at Nashville’s Shermerhorn Symphony Center. Mickey will join CHRIS STAPLETON, KELSEA BALLERINI and ASHLEY MCBRYDE as the only other artists to receive the honor.
ACCOUSTIC DAN + SHAY?:
Could DAN + SHAY record an acoustic album at some point? Based on fan response when they asked about an acoustic version of their hit, From The Ground Up, fans would love to see such a project. The duo’s songs have been used in weddings for several years and they asked about a stripped-down version of From The Ground Up, which led fans to list a few other hits by the duo.
