TODAY IN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY:
1903: ROY ACUFF was born in Maynardville, Tennessee. He was the first living member inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1962 and is credited by some with defining country music.
1957: PATSY CLINE married her second husband, Charlie Dick.
1975: GLEN CAMPBELL was at number one on the country singles chart with Rhinestone Cowboy.
2003: After finishing third on the debut season of Nashville Star, MIRANDA LAMBERT signed with Epic Records. She released her debut album, Kerosene in 2005.
2007: GARTH BROOKS’ More Than A Memory became the first song to debut at number one on the Country singles chart.
2018: LUKE COMBS’ album, This One’s For You was tops on the Country Albums chart. It would spend 50 weeks at the top, a record for a male country artist.

REBA RESCUED FROM DANGER:
While near her home in Chockie, Oklahoma yesterday, REBA MCENTIRE and boyfriend Rex Lynn were touring a historic building to potentially be used in an upcoming Reba project, when the stairs collapsed and they had to be rescued by latter from the local fire department. While Reba and all seven members of her group escaped unharmed, one person at the scene was treated for minor injuries.
IS KEITH URBAN DONE MAKING ALBUMS?:
KEITH URBAN has a new single, Wild Hearts, but says he has no definite plans for an album at this time. Keith tells Taste of Country Nights that he’s a firm believer in releasing music as it comes and he’s able to record it, something he’s done with previous albums. On the other hand, Keith isn’t saying he won’t make any more albums either.
STRAIT ADDS INDIANA SHOW:
GEORGE STRAIT has added a November 7 stop in Evansville, Indiana to his 2021 tour schedule. Tickets for the show go on sale September 24 through Ticketmaster and the Ford Center box office.
DOLLY, KANE AMONG MOST INFLUENCIAL:
Time Magazine has named the 100 Most Influential people in the world and DOLLY PARTON and KANE BROWN both made the list along with Vice President Kamala Harris, singer Brittney Spears and Prince Harry. ABC will air a special called Time 100 on September 20 spotlighting those who made the list.
RILEY GREEN HITS THE ROAD:
This fall, RILEY GREEN will hit the road for a 15-date headlining tour that will run through February of next year. Riley won the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Artist award in 2020 and has scored hits with There Was This Girl and I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died.
